Anna Scholz are a plus-sized fashion brand based in London, who pride themselves on creating fashionable and flattering clothing for plus-size women. The number of plus-size fashion labels has exploded in recent years, in addition to many well-established brands launching ‘curve’ lines, but Anna Scholz were very much ahead of the curve and have been supporting plus-size women for over 20 years now, and in their time have dressed Adele, Dawn French, and Aretha Franklin.
During my time with Anna Scholz I enjoyed input into every stage of the creation process; from taking part in initial meetings discussing content and design ideas with senior colleagues, to pressing send on email campaigns. I worked closely with the eCommerce Designer, managing the company’s online assets and digital communications, including creating email campaigns, online editorials, advertising banners, and social media content.
In an exciting step out of my comfort zone, my copy-writing skills were also put to good use as I was encouraged to both create and promote my own content. This involved conducting interviews with notable figures in the fashion community, and producing blogs and newsletter content relating to current trends and interests. I also encouraged the company to expand their online presence beyond their own website through the use of infographics, which could be shared on fashion blogs and social media, to drive traffic back to the site.
A background in photography gave me the knowledge of how to prepare detailed briefs for upcoming photoshoots. Excitingly, this led to the opportunity to try my hand at photoshoot direction, as well as make digital edits to images to ensure they were of industry standard.
Digital ads
Most digital ads focused on upcoming sales so short and sharp messaging needed to remain the focus. While their initial creation was intended for placement in the newsletter and website, the ads were also regularly used by partners and stockists so needed to work for a number of different types of audience.
Anna Scholz were well-known for their use of bold patterns in their clothing, and replicating these in the ad designs allowed me the freedom to move away from depending on model photography but still ensure the designs remained on-brand.

Newsletters
The Anna Scholz newsletter was one of the most popular entry points for consumers to access the website, and I co-led on both concept generation and layout for the regular weekly email. Newsletters focusing on new stock releases were common, and I relished the challenge of brainstorming topics and layouts that linked to recent collections and which would encourage readers to navigate back to the site.
All three newsletters can be viewed in full here: Asian Influence, Spice up your life, and Monochrome

Landing pages
Most newsletters directed readers to a landing page that gave further detail around the fashion items or subjects, so the two needed to match in both style and messaging. I designed and developed these pages with the knowledge that while encouraging a reader to visit them via the newsletter was a success, the user journey should end with a successful sale. Therefore I included very few URLs on these landing pages besides those linking to the ecommerce site, to make access easier and more streamlined for the user.
